Mason’s Past Life
"I was a Pharaoh in another life, you know?" Mason said to his co-worker. "Were you, now?" Carroll asked. "Mhm, sure was." Mason said, scrubbing the floor of the grocery store with vigor.
"If that's the case, old friend, then why are you here mopping this nasty floor with me?" Mason shook his head. "Well, the Lord sent a plague to me, telling me to let his people free." Carroll laughed. "And you did?" "Mhm." Was Mason's only reply.
"If that's true, then you're a fool. Hell or high water, I would have kept my seat as ruler." Mason stopped mopping, watching his co-worker with great curiosity. "I promised the Lord that if I could only have another chance, I'd come back and serve him." Carroll chuckled. "How's that working out for you?"
Mason had a question in the chamber of his mind and asked it. "Are you saying that I should reclaim my thrown? Do what I did to get it?"
"That's what I'd do." Carroll replied, and without further ado, felt the smack of a mop handle at the back of his head.
